Great Graphs

Kia ora and welcome back, how are you?

This week for maths we had to make graphs of all sorts of graphs, so I chose to do a bar graph and a histogram.

My goal is to display data using a stem and leaf graph, choose an appropriate data, display using more than one variable, interpret information from graphs plan an investigation.

how we did it: first we started of by asking people in the hub what was there favourite number, mine is the number 50, what is yours? Then we did a stem and leaf graph in our books with all the data we collected. Next we asked everyone if they would rather do a bur pee or a push up, mine was a push up, then finally we did one of birthday months (if you want to see some of my graphs click the link)

What month were you born in???

My Happiness book

Kia Ora,
For the past week we have been writing happiness books to teach the kids in Kākano about the four happy brain chemicals Oxytocin, Serotonin, Dopamine and lastly Endorphins
and our goal was for them to hopefully learn something and understand it all
(click the link to see my happiness book called The Key to Happiness)

Persuasive writing

 Koa ora, and welcome back

this week we have been looking out pervasive writing so are create this week was to make a persuasive argument so the topic I chose was save the animals and stop littering

So here is my persuasive argument...

Save the animals and stop littering

Stop littering!!!!!

Who loves animals? Well what if I told you there  was a way that you could help the animals from getting killed . All you would need to do is take an extra minute or two to put your rubbish in the bin.

Instead of just putting rubbish on the floor you should actually stop and think about how this affects the environment.  For example plastic litter,  plastic litter is one of the most common killers of animals, but particularly marine animals. Each year over 100,000 dolphins, fish, whales, turtles, and more drown after becoming tangled in or digesting plastic litter. Even  just picking up someone else's litter can make a big difference in the world . So after looking at what this really does to the animals will you stop littering?

umbrella writing

 Kia ora, how are you?

For this terms PBL we are learning about empathy so for our writhing we watched a short film called umbrella to understand empathy a little bit more. Then we had to write a bit of the short film that we watched.

Here is my writing

-Umbrella-

Early one dreary wintry morning, the door to Miss Elem’s Home for Children sprung open. The girl with the vibrant sunshine yellow umbrella nervously entered the orphanage before finding a home for her umbrella.

Not wanting to be seen, Boris quickly whipped his head around the door frame so that he was hidden from view.

Standing off to the side the girl watched as the other children started to ding deep down into the box of toys.

The girl started to smile as she watched the young boy bolting across the room like a rocket ship.

Her smile quickly disappeared as she saw her umbrella had vanished, and all that was left was a couple of puddles her beloved umbrella had vanished!!
